Frequently Asked Questions about Colonics

What is Colonic Irrigation?

A colonic is a gentle cleansing of the large intestine using alternating warm and cool filtered water combined with abdominal massage. The procedure lasts approximately 45 minutes but plan to spend one hour.

We use a closed system irrigation unit that monitors water temperature and pressure. A short tube is attached to a hose, which is inserted rectally connecting the individual to the equipment. Gentle water pressure is used to clean the entire length of the colon.

During the session, a series of water fills and releases helps stimulate the expansion and contraction of the muscular walls of the colon. This irrigation combined with breathing techniques exercises the colon and promotes the restoration of proper peristalsis.

The colon waste, which is observed for a health evaluation, is seen through the machine’s enclosed viewing tube. Most individuals find the process to be very calm and they easily relax.

How many colonics do I need?

To receive the maximum benefit, a series of colonics should include one colonic a week for several weeks. A maintenance program, which is tailored to your specific needs, is used to ensure good intestinal health.

Will colonics help weight loss?

Weight loss is a billion-dollar business in this country. It’s a major concern for over 70% of the population, and rightly so.

Being overweight is not only uncomfortable, but it contributes to ill health. Unwanted pounds add stress to the internal organs and further slow the metabolic rate, thus adding more pounds.

Along with cleansing, colonics also give a boost to our metabolism, much like a tune-up on our car. Even more importantly, we become more sensitive to our bodies’ needs.

With greater awareness, it is easy to make healthy dietary choices (we no longer feel “deprived” or struggle to “diet”). Weight is safely and steadily dropped, as health improves.

Will a colonic damage the normal intestinal flora?

No. One of the functions of the first half of the colon is to produce intestinal flora (Friendly bacteria) needed by the colon.

Accumulated fecal incrustation makes it difficult for the colon to function normally and cannot produce the necessary flora. This upsets the normal acid/alkaline balance and the growth of friendly bacteria is stunted.

When the colon returns to a healthy balance, disease-causing bacteria will find it difficult to exist.

Are colonic irrigations safe?

Yes, in fact with the new Hyrdo-San equipment, which uses disposable speculums and hoses, there is absolutely no chance of contamination being passed from one person to another.

How does colonic irrigation compare to an enema?

A colonic is much more effective. According to renowned colon specialist Dr. N. Walker, “One colonic is equivalent to 30 enemas.”

Do treatments hurt? Can I go to work afterward?

Colonics are very relaxing so you can certainly work after having a colonic: Just as you would after a regular bowel movement.

Is a medical exam by my doctor required before a colonic?

Because colonics with the new Hydro-San equipment are so safe, generally a medical exam is not required. However, if there is something organically or internally wrong, it’s always a good idea to consult with a physician.

What should I do to prepare myself?

We suggest that you avoid meat, cheese, and white flour products like pizza) and soda. Drink plenty of water and either take a mild herbal stool softener or drink 6-8 oz of prune juice the night before.

Do not eat two hours before the colonic and be as relaxed as possible and maintain a cheerful and positive attitude. Further recommendations will be shared during the first session.

Symptoms of colon problems:

Skin problems
Low sex drive
Body odor/bad breath
Weight gain
Memory loss
Mineral depletion
Colon cancer
Arterial congestion
Poor circulation

This therapy is not intended to be a cure-all. However, colonics are a valuable procedure for treating intestinal malfunctions that can result in many illnesses.

The improvement of intestinal elimination is an important preliminary step in the restoration of good health. An inefficient large intestine is not always the cause of sickness but is believed to accentuate and prolong diseased conditions of the body.
